Reviews
My wife and I thought we would try brass elk for our most recent date night and we were not disappointed. The food was excellent, pointedly the candied Brussel sprouts were exceptional! Staff was friendly. The atmosphere was nice and relaxed but being called the brass elk I would have liked to see a little more brass used around the building/decor. All in all a great dining experience.
Full disclosure that I only ate appetizers here. While everything was good, nothing was excellent. I got The Doe mock tail and it was underwhelming. Not because it was a mock tail, I’ve had great ones, but because it was just meh. It had pineapple juice, blueberry juice, and soda water. For $7 I wouldn’t order again. We split the crispy Brussel sprouts, pretzel sticks, and Parmesan fries for appetizers. Per other reviews, the Brussel sprouts were phenomenal and are why this is a 4 star not 3 star review. The pretzel sticks were good but very greasy. When I pulled them apart you could see the grease/butter slide off. The Parmesan fries are nothing to write home about and I wouldn’t order them again (especially after experiencing the Parm fries at Biebs and Ash in Goshen). My friend ordered the pesto pasta and she liked it so if I had to recommend an entree it would be that. The patio is very nice outside. However, we were getting eaten alive by bugs. That’s not necessarily the restaurants fault but something that I wanted to mention. I did not try the beers or any cocktails so perhaps this place makes up for itself there. Overall, I wouldn’t be opposed to going here again but I won’t go out of my way to come here.
Stopped in for a sandwich and a beer flight. The brew master knows his stuff! Creative flavors plus a couple of more traditional. Enjoyed them all, and I took home a growler to relax with over the weekend. Definitely will be back.
I want to like this place because it’s local and the decor is cool but they are making it tough. Both times without the restaurant being busy the service was ungodly slow and inattentive as far as refills and things.
This time we were seated next to a closet that was opened while we were eating and we got bombarded with fruit flies because it was the closet where pop and liquor are kept. Why seat us next to it if you’re going to be getting in it when no other tables were taken. Pretty disgusting… I mentioned it to the manager and he seemed more annoyed with the complaint than anything and offered no remedy for dealing with it.
The fried PB&J is phenomenal but we won’t be back to enjoy it anymore. Plenty of other local establishments who care more about their patrons.
The food was good but the customer service was even better. Went with friends to trivia night and despite the building being packed our waiter was incredible and welcoming.
Great place to visit. All the beers are very solid with the Saison being the favorite. The corned beef reuben was very tender and delicious. The kids got chicken fingers which were also very good. Nice outdoor patio and the staff was very friendly.
We just went to The Brass Elk for their first brunch service, everything was very delicious and cooked perfectly! My kids had the loaded waffles with fresh fruit and a tri-berry syrup which they loved! I had a mimosa and the fried chicken and waffles with a lite sriracha maple syrup! The chicken was cooked perfectly, very juicy with a awesome crunch on the batter! Would recommend The Brass Elk to everyone for brunch, lunch, dinner, or just to go out and have a few fresh drinks or in house crafted and brewed beer! Great family atmosphere!
New assistant manager is not friendly, there is a server who is always stone faced, never overly friendly and looks as if he hates his job. Manager is wonderful, other servers are friendly and fun, all hostesses were always very friendly, bartenders were friendly and attentive and male food runner was friendly. Cooks did a wonderful job and always met special requests.
